Animation Forum West Midlands has partnered with Young Animators West Midlands, a new community for younger animators and creatives founded by young AFWM member Nathan Wilkes.
"Young Animators WM (YAWM) is a group set up by myself with the help of another local young animator Sam George," says Nathan, 16. "In setting up YAWM, we aim to help anyone under 16 years old to understand and participate in the excitement and joy of animation.
"We hope to run many workshops around the West Midlands area to give children the chance to learn and develop the skills needed for creating animations in 3D, 2D or Stop Motion. Children will get the chance to take part in all stages of the production process, including storyboarding, editing and animating. We also run a monthly podcast in which we interview local animators, and would love to hear from AFWM members interested up for being interviewed."
Animation Forum WM will be advising Young Animators WM on hosting and sorucing speakers for animation workshops and talks. Animation Forum WM members are welcome to attend the talks, although workshops are for under 16's only.
Young Animators West Midlands have already hosted several animation workshops and collaborative projects for under 16's, and have been granted funding by mobile phone operator O2 in the past.
